Ascent Search is partnering with a space technology investor headquartered in the UAE, known for its ambitious growth trajectory and diverse international team. We’re seeking a Senior Investment Associate/ Vice President, who thrives in fast-paced, multicultural settings and brings sharp analytical skills and technical insight to support and drive a global investment strategy.
Job Responsibilities
1. Source Deals
- Identify and pursue companies in the space and adjacent sectors worthy of attention, utilizing structured outreach, personal networks, and proactive market research.
- Rapidly gain expertise in new and unfamiliar markets, progressing from no context to initial meetings in a matter of days.
2. Build a Point of View
- Deeply analyze target companies, technologies, and industries to develop and articulate well-informed perspectives.
- Break down market dynamics, locate areas of value and influence, and identify investment and partnership opportunities (e.g., VC investments, joint ventures).
- Use data and direct industry expert insights whenever available; apply logical reasoning and maintain a fast analytical pace.
3. Deal Execution & Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to shape deal strategies; align with external partners (founders, regulators, investors) to foster successful relationships and outcomes.
- Draft deal structures and formats with input from leadership, often acting as a primary coordinator for negotiations involving multiple parties.
4. Financial Analysis & Modeling
- Lead end-to-end financial modeling and commercial analysis, delivering clear and accurate models with rapid turnarounds.
- Provide actionable insights from financial data to inform investment decisions and deal structuring.
5. Venture Execution & Operational Support
- Support and/project manage the establishment and implementation of joint ventures and new business units.
- Translate deal goals into operating models: participate in early organization design, budget and resource planning, and ensure alignment with broader company execution priorities.
- Tackle both strategic planning and hands-on operational work required to build new business capabilities.
Key Qualifications & Attributes
- 5–10 years of experience in a combination of investing, strategic, or operating roles, ideally in technology, space, or defense sectors; investment banking or private equity background beneficial.
- Strong US tech ecosystem knowledge preferred.
- Advanced financial modeling and business memo writing skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to building sustainable businesses, including willingness to embrace “hands-on” execution and solve tough problems.
- Highly regarded for swift, thoughtful decision-making and consistent delivery of results.
